Thai hippo baby Moo Deng harassed by visitors – zoo director promises action

Moo Deng (Jumpping Pig), a two-month-old female pygmy hippopotamus at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, has attracted worldwide attention with her adorable antics since her public debut on July 25.

However, some tourists have also been seen mistreating the piglet. Recently, videos were posted on social media showing visitors throwing objects at the sleeping Moo Deng. One tourist even doused the piglet with water, waking it up.

These actions sparked a storm of outrage on the Internet and many condemned the visitors' behavior.

Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoi also condemned the behavior and warned that the perpetrators could face legal consequences.

He asked visitors to be respectful towards the animals and not to throw objects or make loud noises.

“This behavior is not only cruel but also dangerous,” he said. “We must protect these animals and ensure that they have a safe and comfortable environment.”
