Former Alabama students Jalen Hurts and Bry Burrows engaged

Last year, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts told Essence magazine, “I'm not married or anything. But I'm taken.”

The “not married” part will soon change for the Pro Bowler.

Hurts and Byronna Rivera Burrows met while studying at the University of Alabama and are now engaged.

Hurts and Burrows showed Essence photos from the night the NFL star proposed to her.

While Hurts left the Crimson Tide after three years to play his final season for Oklahoma, Burrows holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Alabama.

Hurts also holds a bachelor's degree in communications and information science from Alabama and a master's degree in human relations from Oklahoma.

Burrows accompanied Hurts and the Eagles as they traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil last week for their season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Philadelphia defeated the Packers 34-29.

The Eagles will play the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Monday at 7:15 p.m. CDT. ESPN will televise the game.
