Eagles star Jalen Hurts is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Bry Burrows

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen injured is engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Bryonna “Bry” Burrows.

The couple confirmed the news to ESSENCE on Friday, September 13, sharing photos of the romantic proposal with the outlet. Hurts, 26, set the mood with a violinist and a table full of red roses and candles.

Both the NFL star and Burrows, 27, appropriately wore white for the occasion. Hurts wore a crisp collared shirt and Burrows looked bride-to-be in a spaghetti-strap sundress with matching white earrings. After the proposal, the couple posed for a photo with their arms around each other and looking out to sea.

Hurts has been dating Burrows, who works for IBM as an artificial intelligence partner, since their time at the University of Alabama. They were both members of the Greek community; Hurts was part of Omega Psi Phi and Burrows was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

After years of dating, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Time100 Next Gala in October 2023. Hurts was one of the honorees at the event, with Time She called him “a role model for how to approach a job” after she “signed a contract that makes him the highest-paid football player in history.”

While Hurts and Burrows keep their relationship relatively private, Hurts gave some insight into his love life in a separate interview with ESSENCE, mentioning a date at the Houston Zoo's Christmas light show.

“I'm not married or anything, but I'm taken,” he said in April 2023, before explaining how confident he felt in his union with Burrows. “I knew it a long time ago. I mean, up to this point in my life, that's an irreplaceable feeling. I think that's what allowed us to get to where we are now.”

Hurts and Burrows' life update comes after they sparked engagement rumors last week when Burrows was spotted wearing a diamond ring at the first-ever NFL game in Brazil on Sept. 6. The Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers 34-29 in the historic game at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo. A fan snapped a photo of Hurts and Burrows sharing an intimate moment on the sidelines. In the snap, Burrows' giant sparkler light could be seen as she placed her hand on Hurts' face and leaned in for a kiss.

“Our good sister Bry Burrows got her ring,” wrote the fan about X next to the photo. “Congratulations to her and Jalen Hurts!”
