Here's a first look at the 2004 Netflix documentary about the Red Sox

For Red Sox fans who want to revel in the glory of the 2004 team that broke the curse, the celebrations are just beginning again.

As the 20th anniversary of Boston's first World Series title in 86 years approaches, a highly anticipated Netflix documentary looking back at that championship team is set to be released.

“The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox” premieres on Netflix on October 23, four days before the actual anniversary of Boston’s unforgettable victory in the Fall Classic in St. Louis. On Friday, Netflix released its first teaser, looking back at the famous midsummer brawl between the Red Sox and the Yankees.

While there has been no shortage of content about the 2004 Red Sox over the past 20 years, Netflix hopes this documentary will bring to light some stories fans haven't heard and take them behind the scenes of one of the most unlikely sports stories of all time.

“By producing this docuseries, we were able to experience all the things that the players were able to experience: on the team plane, in the clubhouse, in the decision-making room of baseball operations,” director Colin Barnicle told TheWrap.com. “Everyone knows what happened. We want them to know how it happened.”

The three-part docuseries is just one of the Red Sox projects Netflix is working on this year. The company also announced earlier this year that it would follow the club throughout the 2024 season to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the team.

The release date for this project has not yet been announced.
