Caitlin Clark scored 16 points, but the Rookie of the Year favorite could not lead her team to victory as the Indiana Fever suffered an 86-75 loss to the Las Vegas Aces in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

The teams will meet again on Friday.

Clark also had six assists and three rebounds, but made just 6 of 22 shots, including 1 of 10 three-pointers, one of her worst shooting performances of the season.

Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 24 points.

Clark and the Fever have been in top form lately. In the 10 games prior to Wednesday, Clark averaged 25 points. The Fever have already secured a playoff spot, their first since 2016.

The Aces were led by MVP favorite A'ja Wilson, who finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Wilson broke the WNBA single-season record for most points with a 15-footer late in the first half. With five games left in the regular season, Wilson has 956 points. Seattle's Jewell Loyd scored 939 points last season.
