Julie Bowen says she cried in her trailer while filming “Happy Gilmore”: “I felt uncomfortable”

Julie Bowen is excited to reprise her role as Virginia Venit in the upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2However, she admitted that there was one thing about the original film that made her “uncomfortable.”

Julie, 54, appeared on Today with Hoda and Jenna on Thursday, September 12th to discuss some of her upcoming projects. She said Happy Gilmore was the “first film [she] ever done.” It's safe to say her career took off after the sports comedy, but she always looks back on her time on the set.

“I felt really uncomfortable with my hair in it. Really uncomfortable with it. I remember crying in my trailer and saying, 'Nobody's going to see it, it's OK.' I thought, 'Nobody's going to see it? It's the only movie my dad watched over and over again!'” she said Hoda Kotb And Jenna Bush Hagerwho were fascinated by their stories from the set.

Julie talked about some of the other stars who were in Happy Gilmore 2 with her and Adam Sandlerwho originally appeared in the 1996 film. Travis Kelce And Bad Bunny will appear as an actor in the second part.

The Modern Family The actress also revealed that her character and Adam's character are still together in the sequel.

“Yeah, we're very much together,” she said when Jenna, 42, asked about the topic. Jenna then replied, “Oh, you just gave us a spoiler warning!”

“Is that bad? No. That… You can… I think I can say that!” said Julie.

On September 9, Netflix posted on X: “Happy Gilmore 2 is officially in production.” The comment section of the post exploded with excited comments from fans of the original film.

One wrote, “It will be the movie of the year when it comes out,” and another said, “Let's hope the sequel captures the same magic and humor that made the first film a classic!”

Another comment said: “It's fantastic to see the comeback of this beloved character.”

There seems to be a general consensus that many are hoping the sequel will be as hilarious as the first film, which was a commercial success and won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight between Bob Barker and Adam.

On the subject Happy GilmoreJulie also recalled working with the late Barker and why it was one of her favorite moments in the film.

“That was one of my favorite scenes. In that scene he has to say, 'The price is wrong, [bitch]' and he said he didn't want to say that because he was such a gentleman,” she recalled. “But they filmed for hours on this beautiful golf course in Vancouver. And at the end of the day he was so excited. He said, 'The price is wrong, [bitch]!' It was great.”
