34-year-old arrested after fatal fire in Irondequoit

Irondequoit police announced an arrest in connection with the fire that killed four people last month.

According to police, 34-year-old Julio Cesar Pimentel Soriano, originally from the Dominican Republic, was arrested on Saturday.

He is accused of four counts of premeditated murder. Police say they are still looking for other people involved.

According to police, 30-year-old Fraime Ubaldo, 26-year-old Marrangely Moreno-Santiago, 4-year-old Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno and 2-year-old Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno were killed in multiple fires at 329 Knapp Avenue on August 31.

“I don't believe this was random,” said Perry Duckles, assistant district attorney for Monroe County. “I can tell you that I believe there is a motive, but what that motive is, we are still investigating.”

According to police, Soriano is wanted for murder in his home country and entered the United States illegally via Puerto Rico using a fake New York ID.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) provides assistance to the Irondequoit Police Department as needed.
