The most important things in brief: Champions Bayer Leverkusen have recovered quickly from the end of their long winning streak in the Bundesliga. The Werkself won impressively 4:1 (2:1) at TSG Hoffenheim on the third matchday, recording their second win of the season. RB Leipzig missed out on at least the provisional lead in the table with a 0:0 draw against Union Berlin and are currently second behind Borussia Dortmund. VfB Stuttgart achieved their first win of the season with a 3:1 (1:1) win at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Eintracht Frankfurt beat VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 (1-0). SC Freiburg also defeated VfL Bochum 2-1 (0-1). In the evening, FC Bayern Munich will be visiting newly promoted Holstein Kiel.

Borussia Mönchengladbach – VfB Stuttgart (3.30 p.m.)

Situation: Gladbach is gradually getting into the rhythm after the victory in Bochum, VfB is still waiting for the first three points.

Statistics: The two most recent of the 104 duels ended with high goals. Gladbach won their home game against VfB 3:1, while Stuttgart won 4:0 at home. That was on matchday 34 and was also the last Bundesliga victory for the Swabians.

Personally: At VfB, Vagnoman is likely to replace Stenzel in the starting eleven at right back, and Zagadou will at least return to the squad. The hosts have no personnel concerns.

Special: Robin Hack was the match winner in the 3-1 victory in the last home game against VfB with his first Bundesliga brace. The Gladbach player also scored the fastest goal of the past season, making it 1-0 after 21 seconds.

RB Leipzig – 1. FC Union Berlin (3.30 p.m.)

Situation: With two wins from two games, Leipzig has started better than it has since 2019. Berlin has also not lost yet with four points.

Statistics: Last season, Leipzig dominated both duels, while Union remained goalless. Before that, the Berliners had won five times in a row in the Bundesliga.

Personally: Haidara is fit again at Leipzig, only Schlager and Ouédraogo are still out. Volland, Juranovic and Stein are missing at Union.

Special: Leipzig coach Rose has to serve a yellow-red card suspension in the stands. Berlin coach Svensson could miss the game due to illness.

SC Freiburg – VfL Bochum (3.30 p.m.)

Situation: The SC won against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga opener and then lost to Bayern. Bochum got off to a bad start, suffered two defeats in the league and was knocked out of the DFB Cup in the first round by Jahn Regensburg.

Statistics: Freiburg has won all of its last five Bundesliga duels with VfL. The SC currently has no such winning streak against any other club.

Personal: SC goalkeeper Atubolu makes his season debut after recovering from an appendix operation. Bochum will continue to have to do without Ordets and Bernardo.

Special: Guest coach Zeidler is the first coach in Bochum's professional history to have lost all of his first three competitive games with VfL.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – Bayer Leverkusen (3.30 p.m.)

Situation: Leverkusen suffered its first Bundesliga defeat before the international break after 35 games without defeat. Hoffenheim also lost on matchday 2.

Statistics: Hoffenheim is one of the champions' favorite opponents. Of the 32 Bundesliga duels so far, Bayer has won 19 and lost only eight.

Personal details: Hoffenheim are missing the long-term injured Bebou, Becker, Jurasek, Kabak and Prömel. Frimpong's participation in Leverkusen is questionable.

Special: Hoffenheim has already lost ten home games against Leverkusen – more than against any other team in the league.

VfL Wolfsburg – Eintracht Frankfurt (3.30 p.m.)

Situation: Who can knock on the top and who will be the first to run after them? This is a game that will determine the direction of both Europa League candidates.

Statistics: Frankfurt have only won two of their last twelve games against Wolfsburg.

Personally: Wolfsburg is still far from having its best line-up. National players Majer and Maehle are injured. New signings Amoura, Koulierakis and Vavro are still behind on training. Only the Dane Höjlund is missing from Frankfurt.

Special feature: The Greek defender Koulierakis was also a preferred candidate in Frankfurt in the summer. But he went to VfL.
