Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is out with an AC sprain in his throwing shoulder

Conner Weigman, a redshirt sophomore quarterback at Texas A&M, did not start Saturday against Florida because he sustained an AC sprain in his right throwing shoulder, according to coach Mike Elko.

Weigman's playing time for the afternoon game was not decided until the beginning of the game, as his participation during the week was listed as questionable. Redshirt freshman Marcel Reed was allowed to start in his place.

Weigman reportedly sustained the injury in A&M's season-opening loss to Notre Dame on August 31. He looked out of form in the Aggies' 23-13 loss, completing 12 of 30 passes for 100 yards and having two interceptions.

Still, he started A&M's win over McNeese State last week, completing 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.

The Cypress product wore a uniform and participated in pregame warmups with the Aggies' first team before it was decided he would not be in the starting lineup. He also reportedly received pain injections before the game began.

Last season, Weigman got off to a promising start as the Aggies' starter under center, with a 2-1 record after three games. He suffered a broken bone in his left foot in A&M's fourth game of the season, a win over Auburn.

Weigman finished the year with 979 passing yards and eight touchdowns against two interceptions. He added two scores and 63 yards on the ground.
