Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers suffered an unspecified injury and was carried off the field in the second quarter of the Longhorns' game against UTSA in Week 3. Ewers ran awkwardly across the field after completing a long pass to tight end Gunner Helm and fell to the ground on the turf after a handoff. Ewers spent about 15 minutes in the medical tent before leaving the field midway through the second quarter and walking to the tunnel with a towel over his head.

In his place, backup quarterback Arch Manning entered the game and threw a 19-yard touchdown on his first play. On Texas' next drive, Manning ran for a 67-yard touchdown.

Ewers completed 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the first 18 minutes of the game.

No. 2 Texas has a manageable stretch to navigate over the next few weeks, with Saturday's game against UTSA, home games against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State and then a break before playing Oklahoma and then Georgia on Oct. 12. Ewers has missed every game in his first two seasons as the full-time starting quarterback.

After Texas' victory at Michigan in Week 2, Ewers is the favorite for the Heisman Trophy.
