Game Notes

Finally, here are UVA’s game notes:

Popular storylines

  • Saturday will be Maryland's first visit to Scott Stadium since 2012, when the Terps won 27-20. UVA and Maryland played for 57 consecutive years (1957-2013) as members of the ACC.
  • Virginia is coming off a 31-30 road win over Wake Forest, its first ACC opener since 2020 and its first ACC opener away win since 2019. The Cavaliers erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter and trailed by as many as 14 points in the game. The comeback win was UVA's biggest since they trailed Louisville by 17 points after three quarters in 2021.
  • Malachi Fields set career highs in receptions (11) and receiving yards (148) against Wake Forest, becoming one of only 13 UVA players with 11 or more catches in a single game. Fields leads the ACC and is 11th in the FBS in receiving yards (248) and receiving yards per game (124.0).
  • Quarterback Anthony Colandrea was named the Manning Award Star of the Week after completing 33 of 43 passes (77 percent) for 357 yards and throwing three touchdown passes in UVA's road win at Wake. His 33 completed passes are a career high and the most by a UVA quarterback since 2021 (Brennan Armstrong, 36 at Pitt).
