Will there be a 5th season of “Emily in Paris”? What we know so far

play

Warning, spoilers for season 4.

Phew! That was quite a European adventure Emily Cooper had this season. From the French Alps to the piazzas of Rome, it's been a busy season for Emily. And as Lily Collins says, “Nobody loves a holiday like Emily Cooper.”

But is Emily moving to Rome permanently? The short answer is no.

Series creator Darren Star confirmed in a post-season interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Emily is not leaving Paris.

“We're going to spend some time in Rome. But she hasn't changed her Instagram name to Emily in Rome,” Star said. “… They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can also spend time in Paris. She's not going to leave Paris.”

At the same time, Star told Glamour that viewers will “definitely see more of Emily in Rome if there is a fifth season.”

“Emily [is now] there. There is an office and I think the story is taking us there at the moment,” Star said. “So we will be spending more time in Italy, but that doesn't mean we're leaving Paris.”

Review of Season 4

As for Emily's hot new boyfriend, Star told THR that he wanted to introduce Marcello Muratori as a fresh start for the American in Paris.

“I wanted to introduce a new love for Emily that feels like a fresh start after all the drama with Gabriel,” Star told the media outlet. “Marcello comes into Emily's life in an unexpected way and opens the door to so many possibilities for Emily: new country, new culture, new adventure.”

I'm not sure how long this will last, as we see a determined Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) heading to Rome to win Emily back.

In addition to Emily's new adventures, Season 4 also featured plenty of surprises, from Camille's nonexistent pregnancy and her eventual decision to adopt a show to Mindy's departure to Shanghai to work as a judge on Chinese Popstar. In fact, the season even featured a cameo from French First Lady Brigitte Macron.

Although Emily is returning to Paris, it's not official if Emily in Paris will return to Netflix for a fifth season. Here's what we know so far about Emily in Paris season 5, including the cast and release date.

Will there be a 5th season of “Emily in Paris”?

Netflix has not yet made an official announcement about whether Emily in Paris will return for a new season, and a spokesperson for the streaming platform said there was no news when asked by USA TODAY. Therefore, details about a possible Season 5 of the series are still scarce.

However, in May 2024, an extra role in the fifth season of the series was auctioned off during the Cannes Film Festival at the amfAR gala, Variety reported. Hosts Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson said filming for season 5 is scheduled for mid-2025. The extra role, which Star provided, was reportedly auctioned off for around $277,000 (€250,000).

The winner of the auction “will have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming, contingent on the recording of Season 5,” the bid said.
