Google outage: App crashes for Android users worldwide, company reportedly working on a solution

Android users worldwide have problems with the GoogleApps on their phones. Opening the Google app from the home screen icon reportedly causes it to crash. Google has acknowledged the issue and said it is working on a fix.

Google is not available for Android users

According to the Google Search According to the status page, the incident began on September 14 at around 10:22 PM PT (10:52 AM IST). Google confirmed the outage at around 11:07 PM PT (11:30 AM IST), saying, “There is an ongoing issue with delivery in Google Search, affecting a large number of users searching using the Google app on Android. We are working to determine the root cause and the next update will be within 12 hours.”
While the company says it has resolved the deployment issue, it is still working on a solution.
“The deployment issue has been resolved and our systems are becoming stable, but we are still working on a fix. Affected users who are still experiencing issues with the Google app on Android can try clearing the app cache and app data via the Settings app. The next update will be available within 12 hours,” the company said.

What caused the outage?

Google has not yet announced the exact reason for the outage. On the website, under the note “Incident affecting Serving”, it states that “Serving is experiencing an ongoing issue”.
According to Downdetector, 67% of users reported problems with Google Search, while 30% had problems with the website. 3% of users reported having problems with Google Maps.
