AJ Brown has a strained hamstring – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Eagles star receiver AJ Brown (hamstring) did not practice on Saturday and is officially listed as questionable for Monday Night Football against the Falcons.

Brown surprisingly reappeared on the team's injury report Friday afternoon when he was listed as limited due to a hamstring injury.

What happened?

“It was just a little tight in training yesterday,” said head coach Nick Sirianni on Saturday morning. “We'll see how it goes.”

On Saturday morning, Sirianni suggested that reducing Brown's workload on Friday was a precautionary measure.

“It will probably be the same today,” Sirianni said before training.

But now Brown's status for Monday's game is uncertain. In addition to Brown, rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson (hamstring) missed practice on Saturday and is questionable for the game. All other members of the 53-man roster are ready.

Although the Eagles have other dynamic offensive weapons besides Brown, he is one of the focal points of the offense and had a fantastic performance in Week 1. Against the Packers in São Paulo, Brown had 5 catches for 119 yards and a 67-yard catch-and-run.

In his first two years with the Eagles, Brown posted the two best seasons as a pass receiver in franchise history with 1,496 yards in 2022 and 1,456 in 2023. He was named a Pro Bowler in each of those seasons.

If Brown can't play Monday night or is somewhat limited, the Eagles would have DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson as their top two receivers. Smith was good in the crucial stretch of the Week 1 win and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

Dotson is still a rookie in Philly after the Eagles signed him on Aug. 22. The Commanders' former first-round pick played just 32 snaps in the opening game and was targeted once without catching a ball. But Dotson has worked hard to catch up in the playbook, and Sirianni said Dotson is ready if he needs to play a bigger role.

“Yeah, he worked his ass off,” Sirianni said. “He's obviously a very talented player and we'll see how it goes. I know the guys are ready when they're needed.”

If the Eagles have to start a practice squad receiver for this game, the experienced Parris Campbell would be the best choice. The Eagles have only three healthy receivers on their 53-man roster: Smith, Dotson and Britain Covey.
