Atalanta announces stadium renovations ahead of Serie A clash with Fiorentina – Football Italia

Atalanta have released footage of their stadium renovations ahead of kick-off of their Serie A match against Fiorentina on Sunday afternoon.

Atalanta renovates Gewiss Stadium

Extensive renovation works have been carried out at the Gewiss Stadium to increase the overall capacity of the stadium and improve general facilities and safety standards.

Work began in 2019 but was delayed in subsequent years due to complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that Atalanta had to continue playing its matches at home during the season.

The Curva Nord was the first area of the stadium to be modernised, followed by the Renaissance Stand (Tribune Rinascimento) and the most recent changes to the Curva Sud, which normally houses travelling fans.

La Dea have not yet played a home game this season while the finishing touches are being put in place. With special permission from the league, all of the club's first three Serie A matches have been played away from home.

Fiorentina will be the first visitors to the newly renovated Curva Sud on Sunday afternoon.
