The New York Jets will likely be without linebacker CJ Mosely for the remainder of their Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans. Mosely left the game with a foot injury and was taken to the locker room.

He was injured on the first play of the Titans' third drive. New York allowed running back Tony Pollard a 15-yard run.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported the news on social media.

Mosley was injured early in the game against the Titans and his status for the rest of the game is uncertain. But when a player is wheeled into the locker room, that's usually not a good sign. His participation in this game against Tennessee is questionable.

The Jets need Mosley this season if they are to continue pursuing their Super Bowl aspirations, and losing him for an extended period of time would be a massive blow to their overall chances.

Last season, Mosley totaled 152 tackles with one interception and 0.5 sacks. He was the heart of the Jets' defense, so his absence would be a huge loss for New York.

Mosley and the Jets just agreed to a new two-year contract extension worth $17.25 million. The deal gave the Jets some salary cap relief and he was expected to be the center of attention again.

If Mosley does have to miss one game, it would be a loss for the Jets. They have been a little thin at the linebacker position, so hopefully he won't be out for too long. Backup Chazz Surratt will likely fill in for Mosley for the rest of the game and in the future if he misses a game.

New York entered the season with the goal of making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Jets believed that this season could be different with a healthy Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and a strong defensive unit.

The Jets lost their opening game to the San Francisco 49ers, so a win over the Titans would be a huge advantage. The last thing they want is to fall to 0-2 and have Mosley diagnosed with a serious injury.
