Sean McVay explains the evaluation of Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray has been the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals since 2019 and has had several opportunities to play against the Rams. Despite a 1-7 record against Los Angeles, the dual-threat gunslinger from Oklahoma remains a prominent part of the Rams' game plan.

When Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to the media on Friday, he was asked about his team's plan to stop Murray. McVay didn't want to give too much away about their game plan, focusing on Murray's performance in the NFL and how he has hurt opposing defenses in the past.

“He's getting better and better, but the challenge is he's able to create and extend plays as well as anyone in this league,” McVay said. “When you look at the shot clock on some of the plays he's extended over the course of his career, you see his athleticism. I think he has the ability to beat you in the pocket. [and] from the pocket, as a pitcher, keep an eye on the field and then of course as a runner, be able to hit you. As I mentioned, he's a nightmare to prepare for. You have to do a great job playing '11 as a unit.' We're going to have our hands full, but that's what you love about this league.”

Murray's skills are a nightmare for any opponent, but they give fans a deeper insight into the mind of Chris Shula. Murray only played once against the Rams last season due to injury. In that game, Murray completed 27 of 45 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown.

They also limited Murray to one 2-yard run. Unfortunately, it ended in a touchdown. The Rams won 37-14.
