“A warning to all Americans”

Former First Lady Melania Trump criticized the FBI's 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago in a video posted on social media Saturday morning, warning that Americans' rights and freedoms must be “respected.”

The video, which promotes her upcoming memoir, features words from the Fourth Amendment set to music and then shows images of the Trumps' Florida estate as she sharply criticizes the federal agency's raid.

“I never imagined the government would invade my privacy here in America,” she said in the video. “The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched my personal belongings. This is not just my story, it is a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and our rights must be respected.”

Melania Trump's video ended with a picture of her next book, “Melania,” which will be released on October 1.

Former President Trump criticized the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago as “politically motivated.” Agents seized over 100 classified documents and folders. Trump faced 40 charges related to his alleged misuse of classified documents and his attempts to obstruct the government's return. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case in July, ruling that special counsel Jack Smith was not lawfully appointed. Smith appealed the ruling shortly thereafter.

The former president said in late 2022 that Melania Trump felt “very hurt” after the FBI searched her home.

“She felt very violated. I mean, that's a terrible thing,” he said. “They go into her closet, they rummage through her clothes and who knows what else, and it wasn't what it was – they found it.”
