Lamorne Morris hints at 'New Girl' reunion and which co-star is holding back during 2024 Emmys red carpet

In a certain loft in Los Angeles, our favorite group of friends might be returning.

Lamorne Morris announced on the red carpet of the 76th Emmy Awards that he is ready to reprise the role of the hilarious Winston Bishop in “New Girl.”

“Everyone is on our side except Jake Johnson,” he joked to Heather McMahan on “Live From E!: Emmys.” on the red carpet. “Jake Johnson, man, you were a problem.”

And Morris did not let Johnson off the hook after 37-year-old McMahan encouraged him to vent his anger on camera.

The 46-year-old then made it clear that he hopes to see Johnson, 46, return to his role as Nick Miller in the popular comedy series, which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018.

“We all love the fans so much that we want to give them what they want. What's wrong, Jake? You don't love the fans?” he joked. “Jake Johnson hates the fans!”

But this isn't the first time fans have heard rumors about the comedy.

“I think if Liz [Meriwether] “I wanted to do it, who created the show, she obviously thought there was a way back,” Max Greenfield told E! News in 2022. “It would definitely be something I would be open to, but it's hard.”

However, the 45-year-old also admitted that he was skeptical about the idea of bringing “New Girl,” which also starred Zooey Deschanel, back to the screen.

“I thought Lisa Kudrow said something really insightful when they did the 'Friends' reunion,” Greenfield said, “which was that the writers worked really hard to wrap everything up in a way that hopefully satisfies the audience and the characters.”

He continued: “If you go back, that means you have to undo that, and that's enough of an argument for me to really question whether or not to go back. The other part of it is, 'It wasn't that long ago.'”

Although a reboot of “New Girl” may be on the horizon, Morris is focused on his nomination tonight.

The actor is nominated for the 2024 Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries, Anthology Series or Movie for his role in “Fargo.”

PaleyFest 2012 event hosted by the Paley Center for Media honoring “New Girl,” starring Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, and Lamorne Morris.

Morris plays North Dakota State Trooper Witt Farr in the FX drama and briefly recalled how he learned he had been nominated for an Emmy.

“It was early in the morning and my daughter and I were having dinner,” he told E!, “and when you've been in this business for over 20 years and you get a call like that and that recognition, sometimes you get tears of joy in your eyes.”

But Morris' four-year-old daughter Lily was not exactly impressed by her father's latest award.

“New Girl” actors Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) help Jess organize her free time after she is fired from her job as a teacher.

“She didn't care at all,” he said. “She just said, 'Why are you crying, Daddy? Daddy is crying!' How can you laugh at a person who is crying, darling?”

Morris added: “She hasn't learned yet. So disrespectful. These kids, man!”
